Mudag weaving weekend

This is a collaboration with HGSDW, Naturally Useful & The Shieling Collective.

Join us for this weekend workshop, as we are guided in learning to weave the ''Mudag/Muirlag'' basket, facilitated by Karen from Naturally Useful. https://www.naturallyuseful.co.uk/

HGSDW: https://hgwsd.co.uk/

The Mudag is a traditional Scottish, egg-shaped, enclosed basket used historically in the Highlands/Islands to store, warm and dispense wool for carding and spinning. Often made from willow or marram grass, these baskets were placed near the fire to soften the wool's lanolin, making it easier to work.

Details of workshop:

This workshop will be a 2-day event, held at The Shieling.

You are invited to camp, or if you fancy it, there are bothy/cabin rentals available..  You can also travel to and from the venue each day if you desire to. We do encourage folk who are able to stay to do so, as it'll be a great opportunity to come together by the fire together with some Guild members and like-minded people. You can even bring your spinning, knitting or other craft projects for the evening fire-side craic!

Places are limited to 12 spots, with Guild members given first choice, before offering a place to those outside of the Guild.
